non contributory, pension employer pays 10%
large bonus
if employer pays £20k of bonus into pension...no problem nothing to declare, tax return remains easy
what if employer payes £50k of bonus into pension...(none done previous years)....how to show in tax return as needs allocated over past years??
and is ALL the higher rate relief auto given as employer made the payment...or is it needed to claim back the higher part?
in case its relevant this for 20/21 tax year

If you make no contributions and your employer pays the contributions you don't get any personal tax relief.
The employer is getting it as a business expense, reduced NI etc.
If you know that you have enough carry-forward of unused Annual Allowance relief from prior years you don't have to put anything in your tax return. No "working-out" needs to be shown, but keep your own notes in case challenged.
(If you had no remaining carry-forward e.g. because you/employer had put in £40k every year recently, you'd have to declare this year's £50k-£40k=£10k over the allowance. There is a box for this in the return SA101 pages.)
