Could be.
We're ii natives.

I have had the following reply from Interactive , if anyone has executed a trade in the last week on 42TE I would be obliged if they would advise , I say the last week because I noticed online BOI trading had disappeared in the last but one so called maintenance update , they should call them further reduction of service updates .

‘ This stock can only be traded over the phone with us. Other clients may have been able to type in an order, but the Platform would not have allowed the trades to be placed online. Please give us a call on the number below and one of our UK dealers can place the trade for you. There would be no additional charges for placing this trade over the phone with us. ‘

I looked this morning in ii and neither BOI nor 42TE is now tradeable online for me.

Yet I've just tried it and 42TE & 42TF are (still) so for me ... at least to the point of getting into the 15 second timeout (which, as before, I just let lapse). I have no explanation. :?

BOI isn't but it wasn't before anyway.

I've traded BOI with ii over the last week. You do need to call, but they charged the standard online trade rate, rather than the telephone rate as they recognise you cant trade online, so don't penalise you

I think one of the issues they have is that you can only deal BOI in blocks of 1000. I did trade BOI online 6 months or so it allowed me to purchase 3749 shares or something. I got an apologetic call a day or so later explaining the issue and I had to amend the trade to round down to the nearest thousand. I assume their software can't deal with the anomaly so they pulled online trading and now only allow telephone orders.

to be honest, after dealing with a few different banks over the last couple of week with calls lasting at least 45 minutes before being answered by a human, dealing with ii was an absolute joy. I cant recommend them highly enough

I hold 42TE with AJ Bell and just tried to buy some more. I was told it wasn't possible because they were COCO bonds. I tried to argue the point and even asked if they could send me the terms but of course they couldn't. I sometimes wonder where they get the staff!

I bought 2 lots a couple of weeks ago in an elderly relative's ISA with Hargreaves Lansdown. Bought online, with no problems at all even though she has never filled in any complex investment forms. I cannot buy any PIBS in the account though as HL now consider these to be complex, but preference shares are fine!

I remember having problems with the old Balfour Beatty prefs at iWeb share trading because it was a dangerous convertible, even though it was probably the safest pref I owned.

On the subject of these and 42TF - does anyone know what the ex div date is on both please?
I've searched but can't find details.

They don't have ex-div dates - they trade with accrued interest up to the date of the transaction.

Sorry - I shouldn't have lumped 42TE and 42TF together.

So if I buy 42TF the day before they pay interest then I receive the interest??

Just checked with broker, after backchecking they suggested that "ex-div" or "record date" for 42TF was December 2nd or 5th.
Either way, I've missed it for this year.

I think you would have paid for the 25 weeks accrued dividend anyhow, on top of the purchase price, so haven't lost or gained anything. If you buy now, you will only have to pay for 1 weeks accrued dividend

I was really interested in 42TF - where paying for "accrued" on top of purchase price doesn't apply (I can never remember if that's known as "dirty" or "clean".
