Indeed, but I’ve noticed in the past that the RAVP share price has a habit of doing strange things on XD day, not complaining though !.

No sign of any announcement yet (promised for January) on how they intend to fund buying out the Invesco holding, assuming indeed that is still the plan.....?

Hi All, Well not been back here for a long time. Sold all mine at ~100p and bought GLEN, not exactly the same sort of animal but not going to go bust, should recover well after the virus problem goes away and good yield (pretty likely to be paid).

Raven suffering from more problems through operating in Russia, the oil crisis and the virus I think. RUB rate to the GBP has spiked from 85ish to closer to 100 in a few weeks. Not going to be good if they have to do another property valuation !. Another big loss year coming up I fear ?. Ordinaries down to about 29p on Friday I see (ouch !).

Also still havent seen anything with says how Raven are going to deal with the Invesco buyback in terms of where the moneys going to come from.

All academic for me now though as Im out.

GLA to all holders.

I am not too gloomy about the prospects for RAVP. The oil price crisis will be resolved, the best cure for low prices is low prices, and it is possible the Trump will put a tariff on Oil imports into the US to protect shale producers.
Also, Putin is not the type to allow the Russian economy to be affected to much by the Coronavirus, he will not lose any sleep over the loss of a large number of Russian pensioners.

RAVP are going up every day, and the yield is now down to 12.3%.
When are the accounts due?

I had forgotten the cumulative nature of these as well , which I do not think applies to the Cs , albeit the C is senior , unfortunately bought more at a relatively poor price on the way down .

The yield on RAVP is heading down into single figures. However, it would be nice to see an up to date set of accounts.
Concerning the oil price, I am hoping the Trump will do a deal with Putin involving the partial lifting of sanctions on Russia.

President Putin would, of course, not think twice about shafting fellow Russians, however, would he shaft foreigners investing in Russia? I think not, as Russia needs all the foreign investors it can get.

I think that the oil price crisis may be reaching an end game as storage capacity runs out. Many oil wells world wide will have to stop pumping, and it will be uneconomic for a lot of them to ever start pumping again. Thus supply and demand will come into balance, I hope.
In addition, I would not be surprised if Trump decides to put a tariff on all oil imports into the US, bringing the price up to $50 a barrel, in order to save the US oil frackers from being wiped out, with the massive debt default and unemployment that would result.

With the oil price back over 30 Dollars a barrel Russia is paying its way again, add to this the reduced costs of running the Russian state after the unfortunate Coronavirus Pandemic has passed over, and the the prospects for RAVP are looking up.

Once the unfortunate Coronavirus Pandemic has passed over, the cost to the Russian State of providing for state pensions, for example, will be reduced, as most of the fatalities will be amongst the elderly. Also, many younger Russians will be receiving their inheritance’s sooner than they expected, putting spending power into the economy.
I write this as a pensioner myself. It is a fact of life.

Well from a macro perspective it will be interesting to see what happens.

Odd that the rest of the world is seeing this as hugely negative for the economy, growth, deflation etc. yet your view is the opposite. Russia and the "West" are clearly different political, and economic, models but I can't see the "outcomes" being radically different (at least in terms of direction). Do you?

dealtn,
This is an interesting discussion, but frankly, what is said about Russia applies equally to the West, and this is perhaps why the Stock Markets are so buoyant, they realise this unspoken truth. Wars are bad for an economy because they take away the fit and able, whereas Pandemics are good for economies as they remove societies passengers, and I speak as one of those passengers myself.
I would agree the the West is spending far too much money which it hasn’t got on dealing with the Pandemic, but that is another matter.

No sign of that feeding through into the price yet.

Wizard,
I expect that the Market would like to see an up to date set of financial statements before the price of RAVP goes any higher.
