What I'm grappling with now is why such an off-book trade at such an elevated price from the recent normal range makes sense.

Did you sell any bonds at that price? Then it's not a real price.
I think just accept it's a mistake and move on...

it actually had 2 trades at 179p for the same volume, it looks like one was removed

If you think it's for real, why not put in a limit order to sell at 179 and see what happens?
