individual gilts vs gilt etfs

Postby moneybagz » November 13th, 2023, 10:46 pm

Hi,

I'm weighing up two options, gilt or gilt etf, and on paper they look much of a muchness. I'm going to hold one of these in SIPP/LISA, but can't establish if one has any advantages over the other. Can anyone offer any guidance? Is there a minimum £ purchase amount for individual gilts?

IGLS iShares UK Gilts 0-5yr ETF weighted avg yield 4.5% (duration 2.2years)

TY25 yielding 4.64% (matures 22/10/25)

Thanks

Hi Moneybagz
Just FYI you can also invest in Gilts tax efficiently by buying low coupon gilts at a discount and get capital gains tax free.
Then you can keep your ISA allowance for shares/bank interest.
Good luck!
