ATT - My first 'bagger'
Afternoon all
Just noted down my monthly SIPP review and have seen that Allianz Technology Trust (ATT) has 'bagged'. My first puchase was in Sept 2017 with a few more top-ups the followign months. Trimmed a little in Jan 2019 and now the value is just over 100% of contributions paid.
Since I started taking control of my pension investments in 2016, this is the first one that's value exceeds purchase price by 100% and hopefully not the last. I was hoping one of my choices would, but didnt think the first would be an IT - I thought a single stock would have more potential given the widespread nature of an IT.
Cheers, OLTB.

Re: ATT - My first 'bagger'
Afternoon all - hot on the heels of ATT now comes Herald Investment Trust (HRI)! First bought in March 2017 at 930.00p and a few more snapped up the following months with a slight pruning in the Summer this year. Now stands at a 104% gain with a 'sell' price of 2,050p.
Again, it's a tech-focussed IT, so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised - another recommendation from John Baron.
Cheers, OLTB.

I just checked when I first got in to SMT. It was 18th March 2020 at 465.26p! That was lower than the lowest it has finished all year. Happy timing!

Always nice when they double but hang on in there. My holding if Worldwide Healthcare Trust is now 613% more than I paid for it albeit over a longer time frame.

Great luck
I purchased my SMT on 28/03/2018 at 444.4p!
How do you land on these prices?
I'm not even a golfer
Ahem - anyway my best IT for baggering is Bailie Gifford USA growth (USA) and it finished trading today at exactly 3x the price I paid at IPO.
I like all round numbers - except "0".

Oooh, seriously well-timed! Don't tell me: you'd had the money in cash or near-cash for the first half of March?
I think I may be sitting on a bigger gain on SMT than you, but you certainly have the best rate of growth!

I was sitting like an unsophisticated non-lemon in the lifestyle funds of my entire pension pot for ages. It is one of those things I kept putting off and putting off sorting as always too busy. The market crash saw that lose "just" 23% and thats when I finally sold all those units, waited a day or two for the funds to be cash and then piled all in at about 11am on 18th March in about 8 geared investment companies. I've spent the last 9 months smoking cigars and gloating to my investment minded friends as I dont have the intraday tools to hand but anecdotally it feels like pretty much the lowest hour of the year

Re: ATT - My first 'bagger'
everhopeful notes:
Well done. And hold on! I acquired my first shares in this trust when it was Finsbury Worldwide Pharmaceuticals Trust at 113p as I noted
viewtopic.php?f=54&t=29721&p=418469#p418469
so its a 31 bagger for me. But that acquisition was in 1995 so I suspect, perhaps a lower rate of overall growth. The message must be run with your winners especially if you've taken a bit of profit and assuming you have some idea of the risks.

Re: ATT - My first 'bagger'
My only ten-bagger ever is SMT, bought at 133
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I had some money to invest in ITs and narrowed it down to two, CTY and SMT
Smallish lump sum in each then a regular monthly investment in the one I fancied most
Can you guess which one I picked for the monthly investment?
