HDIV buybacks and discount

As title, I have noticed that HDIV is back at a price I collected some in May (having been on a wander higher in between) and yielding 5.3%.
The discount has returned and a glance at the RNS feed indicates a small buyback program underway.

I know it lacks the excitement of SMT but I am toying with the idea of adding.
I am coming from a very large cash position - messy personal life so I went safe - and equity positions are also being considered.
So partly a heads up in case anybody is interested and partly an ask for a nudge - or not.

This stock was sold down to 80p on the back of a John Baron sell. You can read more about this on the NCYF thread although even now I'm not sure people really know why he sold.

NCYF dropped from 50p to 45.5p and is now back at 50p

HDIV was about 88-90p before it fell to below 80p.

As I'm sure you know it's a bond fund and therefore whilst nothing comes without risk, there's less risk than equities. Further the dividend yield is around 5% which is far less racy than many so that makes it "reasonably safe" too.

They have a great track record and I see why no reason why it won't climb back to say 88p, perhaps a bit more if the market continues to start looking nervous as everyone will then be chasing bonds for safety.

I bought plenty below 80p but also have a much smaller amount from 84p. I added yesterday at 82.3p as it looked to me like money was starting to rotate into bonds from equities. (if I look at the FTSE today for once I seem to have timed things very well!)

Have had a look and decided to buy. Bought at 83P. Given the tightening of the discount at IPE/NCYF this should follow suit. Time will tell!

Hi All.

I first bought these July 2019 at a little under 92p (and regularly since). Give or take, the share price is down 2% and NAV up 13% since then (from a quick glance at a chart).

Currently at a discount of a little over 8% and a yield above 5%, it (still) seems a reasonable "bet" to me, but who knows? I'm keeping it anyway and will no doubt add a few more shortly.

Regards, Newroad

Well I did it yesterday at 82.7.
Doubled my holding to 6% and it sits alongside some (less) IPE that I got last year at 64 and some 'Corps' within MATE which has had a pleasing discount compression lately.
Real life is still a work in progress so I shall have a ponder what to do next.
