Re: How was your week?
Tentatively buying today.
-I moved a 2% LLOY tranche from a margin account to a cash account (SIPP) to satisfy the margin call, and bought a few more.
-Closed more than half of option positions, mostly long S&P index Apr and Sep straddles, and a quarter of short S&P futures.
-Added very small tranches of UK shares to already existing positions.
-Raised a bit of cash by reducing gold exposure close to LT highs.
-Raised further cash closing fixed interest positions close to LT highs.
Portfolio generally heavily down on previous day.

Well there might be some back in the buying window soon and timed for a new tax year to boot.
Looking at the fallers and knowing that there would be a panicky market I'm not sure if I would have picked any of the fallers to sell beforehand. More likely to have sold the few that have gone up.
Ill do the weekly update tomorrow with my hard had on.
Well tomorrow brought a PC issue but I finally got my data. It's looking like I'm back to the beginning of the year. Of course that was before today's falling market.
Well the froth has definitely been taken off the top. Today's falls were much worse than when it finished so maybe a small signal that the worst is over for now.
Now is defined in hours not days.

Re: How was your week?
The last 3 sessions have undone the previous 36 weeks' of steady gains for me... but that said, I'm actually really happy with how my portfolio has held up.
Some OEIC prices yet to come in, but peak to EOD Monday think I'm looking at around somewhere between 10-11% down. HYP and Gold portions of my whole portfolio have held up relatively well, and I had a low exposure to US for a fair while.

Re: How was your week?
Hasn't really been that bad for me - on a daily closing basis I think I was down no more than -8% from peak to trough.
On a weekly close basis which I'm officially tracking there was the big downweek last week, but even that was only -5.35% and we have begun to climb back.
Now currently just 3.5% off ATHs.

That said, still not nice to see even 8% evapourate in the space of effectively 2 trading session, especially when all the news and headlines make it seem far worse (which it was if you wasn't as defensively minded).

Re: How was your week?
I started with good intentions for the tax year.....I transferred some shares in Reckitt into my wife's ISA...and then went 'off plan'
I added a top up of both Merchants (6% yield) and FGT and a new position in JGGI. These went into my ISA.
Total Returns This Year

On a longer timescale......

Spot Covid 19 without looking at the X Axis!
(Y Axis scale deliberately omitted)

Something to note is that COVID did not represent any permanent change, it was just an impulse shock which rapidly dissipated and has left most things much as they were before, as nicely illustrated in this graph. You can see similar with inflation, interest rates and many other measures.

Evening All.
Just finished my semi-monthly update of the portfolio (today being II's free purchasing day - 3rd Wednesday in the month).
The unitised portfolio as a whole is back to end of May 2024 levels for me. Peak (end of Jan 2025) to trough (now) it's 9.55% down.
Regards, Newroad
