Failed a car last week for excessively mucky plates front and rear, couldn't read them properly from 10 feet let alone a distance or potentially by a gatso. Also failed for being an incorrectly manufactured plates (ie: not conforming to specified requirements) as the background colouring was far too dark, and deliberately so in order to prevent gatso snaps* - which is in itself the offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice if a clued-up traffic cop knew what to nail the driver for .....

I guess he forgot to swap the plates before and after the MOT.

Just like I have to de-tune mine to get it through emissions and then re-tune it after. Annoying but needs must.
