No change to normal MoT rules for lockdown 2, in other words if you need a ticket you go out and get a ticket. Travel to and from an MoT is a legally valid journey.
MoT stations and garages are still (mostly) open for business as usual.
Previously applied extensions will still be valid until expiry date.
No new 6 month extensions, if your ticket has expired it has expired.
And please get rid of any used masks etc before bringing your car in ....

Re: Lockdown 2 and MoT's
We got the wife's Golf MOT'd and serviced yesterday. Contrary to expectations, the garage was short of work, and the owner said he'd had to furlough two of his staff until recently.
The thing is, he's really, really good, but he does charge a tad more than other local independents. Not much more - but in a year when people haven't been driving much, they've been deserting to the cheapo outfits. Or skipping services altogether. ("I was away at the time, so I had it done at another garage and they forgot to stamp the log book, honest.")
The Golf had only done about 1200 miles since January, but it needed a couple of anti roll bar bushes and an exhaust clamp for the MOT, and I wouldn't have known about them otherwise. I also got them to change the brake fluid, which is another forgettable item that won't/shouldn't wait too long just because your mileage is currently minimal.
Yes, we stripped the car of old masks, gloves and other such junk before we took it in. It seems such a small courtesy, really.

Re: Lockdown 2 and MoT's
Our Avensis was originally due in May so it got put back by 6 months. Reading all the scare stories of garages being overloaded with work, I booked it in for Nov 2 probably 2 to 3 months ago. As usual, passed with no problems. Not bad for 98K & 7.5 years, mind you it's always been serviced every 10K and anything that needed doing was done there and then. No need for the garage to contact me - he just does it whilst knowing full well that an explanation may be required, so I'd have been rather upset had he failed it.
Next service is 100K. Given that mileage has dropped somewhat, I estimate possibly in the new year. Or maybe around Christmas time.

It's an unapproved coupling structure, and the articulated section's completely out of line. The Department of Verbal and Literary Accuracy have been duly alerted.
