Proximity Keyless Entry: disable? (Peugeot 308)
I have recently bought a Peugeot 308 (Allure Premium Hybrid). It has Proximity Keyless Entry which means that as you approach the car, if you have the key fob on your person, it unlocks the doors. And vice versa when you walk away from it.
This is a complete PITA, and I would like to disable it, or reduce the range. There's nothing in the manual except a vague hint about configuring, but which doesn't lead to much. By the look of postings on the web, I'm not the only person to come up against this. I could get some sort of Faraday cage but this would then prevent starting the vehichle (Keyless Start).
I do (shock horror) put the car in the garage (at present to charge it until I can get an outside charging point), and the garage is right next to the kitchen with an adjoining door. Every time I walk into the kitchen with the keys in my pocket, I can hear the car unlock itself then shortly relock it. This is completely redundant and probably drains a little bit of the battery. I'm quite happy to click the key fob to lock and unlock the car.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to disable Proximity Keyless Entry (or reduce the range)?
TIA

Have you looked through the "Settings > Vehicle" options in the screen in the dashboard?

That will be my first port of call on Tuesday, but not holding out much hope, and quite a bit of Googling suggests this is a known situation to which there is not an official solution, hence posting here in case the combined Lemon wisdom had a solution or some pointers.

Re: Proximity Keyless Entry: disable? (Peugeot 308)
Line your garage with tinfoil?
Leave your keys in your jacket in the hall cupboard?
Seriously, it seems like the system might just be a bit too sensitive, but the locking and unlocking won't drain the battery unless you spend a lot of time in and out of the kitchen and not a lot of time driving the car, especially if it is plugged in.
Do the keys need to be inside the car to start it, or just nearby? If the latter then just leave the keys in the kitchen and the vehicle unlocked. I'd hope that after a while it will lock and you'll have to take the keys out of range and back in again to reactivate the system.

Whilst you're looking for a solution to the above issue, you should probably have a good read of a separate recent thread related to the risk of proximity-key car-thefts -
https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39262&p=591781#p591781
Some of the solutions on that thread relate to the use of cheap lined key-pouches that can be used in the home to reduce the risk of such car thefts, and if that risk also concerns you separately to the above issue, then you might want to consider a solution that helps to remove both issues and risks at the same time...
Cheers,

Re: Proximity Keyless Entry: disable? (Peugeot 308)
I googled "peugeot 308 proximity key disable" and found a thread on the Peugeot forum entitled "How to turn off Keyless Entry?". There seems to be a method described which some people say worked (and others say it didn't).
Might be worth a look if you haven't found it already. (I will PM the OP with a link if he wants)

Thank you for that nudge: if you mean https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/how-to-turn-off-keyless-entry.336110/ I thought I'd read that (my browser indicates it as a 'visited link', but I was looking at a lot of links last night so maybe overlooked the full details) but obviously not enough. I'll give those a go and report back.

Thanks for confirming. I tried all the instructions in the posting last night and didn't have any success. But glad some people found it useful. I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow (when thy're open).
