From our conservatory we are fortunate (well very fortunate) enough to be able to hear when skeins of geese go over our house.

A few minutes ago I heard them and went out for a look. A skein of about 100 Pink footed geese flew overhead with the Plough (Ursa) constellation behind them in a very clear, black, intensely cold NE Scotland night sky......STUNNING.

Then just thought, these wild birds survive without Government Winter Fuel subsidy or benefit support.......
