Re: Swallows
Saw my first yesterday evening (Wiltshire). It seems very early - last year we didn't get them until nearly May. This one was heading resolutely northwards. Keep an eye out for it, folks, and say welcome if you happen to see it.

Re: Swallows
My first swallow of the spring this afternoon, central Lancashire. Let's hope the swifts are on their way, I didn't spot one last year.

Oh dear! Summer's definitely over despite the continuing very balmy weather - "our" swallows set off on their journey south yesterday.

You've had a good run, then. Ours in Wiltshire were already gathering on the overhead wires by mid-September, and then suddenly they were gone.
Too soon, too soon! Looks like this autumn's run down across the Sahara is going to be tougher than usual. I worry for the poor fledglings.

Waited until today in case other Fools thought it was all down to April 1st. First swallow back in the barn. More to follow, hopefully.
Spring can now be said to have sprung - at least in East Sussex.

Last week my wife and daughter saw all (thousands) of them happily feasting on the wing in the Southern Hemisphere, so may take a while for them to arrive in force in the UK.
