Apart from the Beatles where I virtually know every word sung plus the usual favourites, I rarely listen to the words sung, more the tune, or rather pick up individual lyrics along the way if I truly enjoy it. Bad habit of mine and wonder how many of us do the same, but have noticed that over the years I have started to listen far more carefully and then the other night I heard this, without having the benefit of seeing the video below.
The words coming from the radio were/are beautiful. I had heard the opening "Starry, Starry Night", hundreds of times, lovely tune and all that, but decided to actually listen to every word for once. Wasn't quite sure what he was talking about until it all clicked. Vincent! Perhaps I'm the only ignoramus who only just for the first time ever, truly appreciated what this song is all about as never listened to anything meaningful past Starry Night. Was told at school, has high potential, just needs to pay more attention to achieve it!! Dear me. Taken a long time. https://youtu.be/dipFMJckZOM
