The Lighthouse

8/10 (I think?!) Two old timey guys in a Lighthouse

It looks stunning, it sounds stunning and I found the acting to be very very good.
It's also a bit strange; kind of "Bergman meets Lynch meets Chewin' the Fat", black and white, old school lenses and aspect ratio, lighthouse, metaphors!

I can't say I "got it" entirely, thought I don't think it mattered. Certainly left me thinking which I was probably in the mood for.
Not a movie for everyone, or everyday, but I feel like I should be stopping one in three folk to tell them about it.
If you think you might be interested in it you probably will be.

Its about time Willam Dafoe received an Oscar, one day it might happen, as he is a brilliant actor and can turn his hand to any format.

I knew he got a nod at the last lot and I'm really surprised it wasn't for this

For me the first half was best thing I have seen in some time. However by the half way point I started to get slightly bored with it. It wasn't that it was bad, I just lost interest.

So for me 7.5/10 - first half 10/10, second half 5/10.

AF62 managed to at least get to half way before lsing interest etc ... I lasted about the opening 20-30 minutes was good, interesting, but after that it lost me totally. I appreciate I am not the intebnded audioence then.

I didnt get the screaming at the light, shagging the mermaid, giant squid/octopus in tghe light room. It was far from obvious that the head in the creel was the former #2 keeper. (yes I get that's its about losing your mind etc)

And #1 keeper kept banging on about the light and would lock himself up there to tend (?) it all night. then abandoned that for get shed smashingly drunk every night instead.

3/10.
