Signs are the BBC is raiding the back catalogue to put more content on the iPlayer while most of the UK stays indoors.

All 12 x 90-minute film-length broadcasts of Wallander – the Kenneth Branagh version of Henning Mankell’s introspective Swedish detective – now available on the BBC iPlayer for the coming 11 months.

I enjoyed this English language attempt at Nordic Crime Noir the first ‘round, and now that enough time has passed, I’m sure I’ll enjoy watching it again. Though, I don’t think I’ll be binge-watching the series. No matter how well acted, Kenneth Branagh’s inward looking performance as Kurt Wallander is too depressive for me to take for any longer than 90 minutes at a time.
