Why does nice family man, obviously happily married to his wife, Martin (Danish copper) have sex with Charlotte the property developer? Nothing elading up to it suggests he is unfaithful.

And what was it about taking her wig off that "sealed the deal" ?

Don't know about the wig issue but as to the first question, the answer surely is "because he could"

yes of course :-) He exp[lains it away later with "to prove I could after my op" - but that was clearly rubbish cos he has a sexy, attractive wife who adores him anyway.

And he says he has cheated before but a long time ago - which given August (18 year old son) appears not to be the son of his current wife - may not mean he has ever cheated on his (current) wife before after what uis several years - during which time he could have "because he could" anyway . So why now?

maybe it was his warped mentality over vasectomy?

its just the thing that is grating with me - a brilliant series 1 thus far!

You'll enjoy Saga's take on his marital problems!
It's a brilliant series - envy you getting to watch it for the first time.

There was a fourth and final season a couple of years ago - just in case you missed it

If it's on iPlayer I might give it a re-watch
- the subtitles on some episodes the first time I saw it were a bit hit and miss and the BBC normally get that stuff right
- TBH I can't remember where I got it from originally but some bits read like it had been converted to Mandarin before into English
