Dirty Money series on Netflix

#383332

Just got round to watching this series on Netflix. Should be of particular interest to forum members as some of the subject matter requires some financial knowledge to fully appreciate it. I'd pick out the following episodes as having the most financial elements:

Drug Short - short sellers and Valeant Pharma*
Payday - payday loan company and its methods
Wells Fargo - not well known in UK but shows how its friendly image clashed with reality
Slumlord Millionaire - Jared Kushner!
Dirty Gold - how a particular money laundering operation worked

* this episode mentioned "EBITDA" and "EPS": can't see most people having a clue what that meant.

EBITDA has gone just a teensy bit out of fashion since the Enron collapse in 2001. Popularly known ever since as "Earnings Before I Tricked the Dumb Auditor". ;)

Speaking of EBITDA reminds me of a recent PI World video. https://youtu.be/3S-0d1QmrgA - Andy Brough scathing of the concept. Interesting for those of a financial bent. I’ll have a look at the Dirty Money series. Sounds as though it’ll be good.
