7/10. Fairly understated atmospheric Western starring Tom Hanks on a journey with a young orphan who doesn't speak English. Quite engaging and enjoyable and a different take on the Wild West, giving you a feel for what it must have been like. Tom Hanks always plays Tom Hanks, but he's still good to watch.

I thought it excellent too, well acted, with some interesting themes underlying the basic narrative.

I'd give it at least an 8.5

Just watched it. The cowboys certainly looked more realistic than those in the films when I was growing up who all looked groomed to perfection.

The film is shot I think in a lot of natural light including the night scenes. The cinematography had quite a brown colour palette. Well acted and atmospheric but overall 7/10 as I found the plot so-so.

Yes, it reminds me of all those old High Chaparal, Bonanza type programmes, ever the Tarzan films. Dragged through swamps, dusty deserts, rivers, quicksand, up and down mountains, hours in the sun, exhausted, yet....

They appear in the house, looking like they've had twelve hours sleep, spent two hours under a shower, two hours with the hairdresser, and fresh, ironed clothes. ;)

I loved those old films!
