River Walks

Where do I start ... perhaps at the most dangerous part.
Dave, Steve, Me and Dad went fishing from the coast of Yorkshire quite often. Days gone by.
One evening mid-winter we went to an area where the cliffs are composed of topsoil and clay. Getting down to the beach to begin fishing was interesting. As we walked down what appeared to be the "trodden path" my Dad kept reminding us all to stay on the path. We had lamps fixed to our heads. Like miners. But it was still a hard job to see where we were going.
We were about half way down the cliff when we heard a voice behind us.
"Help".
We turned around. Dad wasn't there. So we walked back up the path about 50m. There just off the path and stuck in the mud was my Dad. And he was cussing. He pleaded with us to get him out of the mud which was at least thigh deep. Now I was crying as I laughed. And that just made a poor situation even worse. The cussing went into a complete tirade. I believe Dad shouted something along the lines of get me out of hear you bleeped out bleeped out. We all knew that if we stepped off the path to help him we would be stuck too.
We took his kit and threw him "the shovel". He joined us an hour later on the beach. He didn't speak to us for a week.
I may just come back and tell you about my adventure on the boat out of Bridlington.
