8/10. Revenge thriller starring Carey Mulligan (as Carrie) around the subject of "nice guys" having sex with extremely drunk women.
There's been a lot of hype about this, but I thought it was really good, particularly in the points it makes and the targets it hits. 15 certificate, but probably a film all teenage boys and girls should watch and discuss with their parents.
Starting point of the film is that Carrie has a well-practiced routine of pretending to be extremely drunk in bars and night-clubs, a "nice guy" looks after her, which involves taking her to his house, putting her on the bed, and then Carrie suddenly "sobers up" and asks him what he's doing. We gradually find out why she's doing this, and the film is clever in having some female characters as her targets, because of their role in the past. Some of the set-ups are a bit contrived in order to make particular points about different responses to a situation.
Quite a few twists and turns, some expected, some unexpected, and a little bit of black comedy, but overall it's a serious film.
