Priest arrives at a remote town...strange things happen. Supernatural horror.

(Mrs Monabri has gone "full Dr Who mode" and is hiding behind the settee. ;) )

love the Dr Who mention
will put this on my list

not sure why this happens but when pasting links that have a closing bracket (why do they do that  )
the closing bracket often gets omitted from the link

The endings ok as well and leaves (some) possibility for a series 2.
Agreed it is a slow burn and one can see parallels with things that happened in real life.

I gave up after IIRC episode six as it was taking an hour to make one plot point.

Wife watched through to the end - she felt cheated.

All summed up by her comment that at one stage it had turned into Shaun of the Dead, and they'd all gone to the Winchester.

Soundtrack was quite neat.

I just finished this last night. My wife didn't realise that it was SciFi/Horror so watched the first two episodes with me, then refused to watch any more. Nope, she's not a fan of that genre at all! ;) But to be fair, she has chosen some real gems, ranging from the Swedish 'Caliphate' to the nostalgic 'Anne with an E'.

There were times when Midnight Mass did seem to drag, but I guess that's part of setting the scene. I thought that the actor playing the priest was brilliant. Some annoying inconsistencies- like the island's doctor weird acceptance of events that would have anyone else contacting the authorities.

Thankfully, it was not a series that goes on forever, like some others e.g. The Expanse, so finished after seven.

Steve

PS Any recommendations for good SciFi/Horror?

I watched it having seen the "hauntings" series by (more or less) the same team on netflix so I expected it to be horror/spooky but it surprised me with where it went; I really liked that it took its time

I watched Archive81 shortly after on Netflix and enjoyed that also
