I've just watched a remarkably good greatest hits set by Crowded House and a wonderful set by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. (BBC4)
There are 35+ hours of BBC coverage this weekend, I can't watch it all - What has caught your eye/ear
Recommendations please.

Well, I lasted four songs. Call me old-fashioned, but I don't like pre-recorded vocal backing tracks when something is supposedly live. I like her, but the sound mix is terrible, so much so you can barely here her voice above the backing track. What's the point of that when she is the main attraction?

Yes, but alas pre-recorded instrument tracks are kind of par for the course these days. I just don’t understand why the headline act, who is a singer, has pre-recorded vocal tracks and her real-time voice buried so deep in the mix. I like her, she’s a real talent, even though her lyrics don’t mean much to someone my age! Just disappointed for her the sound is so poor.

Thought it was my ears going funny. Yes sound mix not the best unfortunately. Shame.

I’ve just watched the latter on iPlayer, and it’s a fabulous set. Just great musicianship, all live and without the slightest bit of fakery. It’s what live music is all about. Particularly enjoyed the bluegrass version of Rock and Roll. Crowded House next up.

I’ve just watched Rufus Wainwright’s set from the Pyramid stage early Friday. I realise he’s probably an acquired taste but it’s one I acquired recently from listening to Guy Garvey’s show on 6music. Great songs, great voice and the end of the set is great fun. Easily best vocal performance I’ve seen so far. Now on to Foals…

I missed Rufus Wainwright - I'll need to do some searching on Iplayer. I enjoyed Foals (they were on Jools Holland last week)
Other interesting sets from yesterday were "First Aid Kit" and "Blossoms". The later being the antithesis of pre-recoded Billie stuff with a vast number of musicians clearly enjoying themselves.

I really enjoyed the Supergrass set.

Saw them there in 2002 - the only time I've been (I was more of a Reading regular...), but listening to them flying through their hits was just great.

20 years. Bloody hell...

Krauss is absolutely wonderful in concert.

Her studio recordings unfortunately I've always found to be a bit "meh whatever" - a bit too polished and almost as if they're trying to hide the fact it's a banjo

What a set and what special guests (no spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet). Ok, his voice isn't what it was, but come on, a 3 hour set at the age of 80

Well, been a fan as long as I can remember and it’s just extraordinary. Speechless actually.

All those Billie E dad (grandad) dancing Fools - ITS NOT FOR YOU. Not worth either trying to get to 'appreciate' - surely you gave grime, drill, acid (maybe not from some of your responses) etc a pass. Stick with Krauss/Plant - sublime. Saw them live a couple of years ago with T Bone Burnett - brilliant.

This year Glasto so far - brilliant sets from St. Vincent (great support and she is a true original) and Skunk Anansie (Skin must be one of the best rockers in the UK).

Give the young girls a miss

Saw the Polyphonic Spree back in the day and loved it but I'm not sure if she was there... there were hunners of the sods.
Absolutely loved her album with David Byrne.
Can't quite get to grips with her guitar despite thinking it's gorgeous to look at (there's something weird about how Ernie Ball profile the necks)
But recently her albums have sounded like made for "radio" high gloss "could be anyone" stuff and I'm sure that's not really her fault

At her best I reckon she's up there with Bowie but sometimes she seems more Madonna.

Just watched it - bloody fabulous set that brought back loads of memories. I bought the first three albums and saw them live back in the day. Lost touch with them but then enjoyed Gaz Coombes solo stuff more recently, especially Matador which IMHO is a great album.

I'm beginning to sound like my parents but yesterday I turned on the TV to watch Glastonbury. Mel C (who was supposed to be the one who could sing in the Spice Girls) was on and she was literally screaming into the microphone. No end of talented musicians accompanying her could disguise the fact that her performance was an assault on my ears. Then some bloke rocked up wearing short trousars and bracers like a modern day Gilbert O Sullivan who again screamed and shouted at the microphone. That was enough for me. Clearly I'm too old for Glastonbury.

Before anyone comments I am a former semi pro musician who failed to make it although my fellow band members are still playing in various bands today 50 years on. But Glastonbury this year was not for me although I did try later to hear Paul McCartney. His singing was a bit off but the rest of it was OK but didn't prevent me from switching off the TV after a few songs. Glastonbury is now firmly off my bucket list.

I saw Macca on TV and thought he was brilliant
There is another comment on the post about not being able to hear him (use the volume up button)
The sound on my TV was fine
It is obviously a better experience to be there so I allow for that if I'm watching from the sofa
He is one of the most talanted songwriters to be born and the way the crowd responded showed how good he was
(hope I'm that agile at 80)

Let's face it..."modern music is rubbish", that's why iPlayer exists! I'll watch Supergrass, Macca, PSB and Noel G (& the HFB). Not much else tickles my fancy.

Not much interested in today’s schedule so have watched Metronomy and two sets from the Park Stage on Friday - Khruangbin and Confidence Man. The latter has to be the most energetic performance of the weekend making Billie Eilish look positively lazy. Really enjoyed the combination of 90’s house music with a splash of the B52’s. Warning: it will make you feel old and unfit.
