Aged humour

Sometimes I walk through a retired community. In one of the tiny gardens the elderly occupant keeps a small noticeboard, on which they write one line pearls of wit or humour. Today's offering was:
"Before the invention of the crowbar, crows used to drink at home."

More aged humour:

"As I get older, I find need only three shops. Specsavers, Boots and Greggs.

My life is just specs and drugs and sausage rolls."

I asked my father this some years ago. His reply: "milk in bottles".

Can you ask him what we went back to before the invention of the drawing board, please?

Much obliged....
