Needles
I thought I was ok with them but after this morning's experience, i've decided that i'm fine with injections but not with 'outjections'.
Not a pleasant experience when they're struggling to find a vein.

I also used to suffer from this problem, and I dreaded the need to have a blood sample taken. But our practice now has a skilled phlebotomist, and I simply offer my arm, and look the other way until she says - "that's it all done", and I have scarcely noticed that she has started!

But I would that, in times long past, it was no fun - as a radiation worker, I had to have a sample taken yearly, and I went accompanied by two technicians from the lab - to carry me back if necessary. Now I don't even need moral support from my wife.

Re: Needles
One of my grandaughters goes out like a light the minute she sees the needle. I'm lucky it's never bothered me except when I had to have iron injections when I was expecting daughter no.2. This was in the days of glass syringes and the one the nurse used was more like a horse syringe, luckily the area of the injection was my situpon which after 6 injections was black and blue fading to colours of burgundy and yellow.

Ctrl+F to find prior veins.
It's just my luck that the nurse in charge had a search function about as good as TMFs/TLFs.

I still have a scar an inch wide on my right hand due to botched attempts to give me a blood transfusion when I was about 10 years old, I remember that at one point they were going to give up and try the other hand...

When I was in hospital with galloping pneumonia, about eight years ago, they ran out of places to install a cannula, because they'd botched so many of the usual sites on arms, hands, knees and boomps-a-daisy.
At one point, they were planning to use a site that was very close indeed to all that I hold dear - but at the very last moment they managed to get one in somewhere else, and it was all sweet from there onward. Yes, I know that Prince Albert had a safety pin through his gentleman's sausage, but I was in no hurry to follow his royal example. I am now a firm believer in the power of prayer.

Well, I'd not heard that before and with some trepidation Googled it. And found some pictures I'd rather not have seen on Wikipedia, thanks for mentioning it

Aw shucks, no need to thank me. (Sings:) "If I can help somebody as I go along, then my living has not been in vain...."
