I can't help wondering how some glands that are "about 1.5 inches (3.9 centimeters) in length on average" have been missed in all the dissections of dead bodies that have been done over the years...

Of course telling us the size in one dimension, and omitting the other two, doesn't really tell us how easy it would be to miss.
