I'm not sure if I every got to the Ostrich - as mentioned a friend worked there and she reckoned it was definitely haunted !
I remember many years ago it had a refurb which didn't go down well with the locals. Someone who posted here or on the old Motley Fool was an investor in the place, so I will stay neutral on the matter :-)

If we wanted to get out of Slough (who doesn't?) we'd normally head south into Windsor
There was also a good triangle of pubs in Burnham Beeches to the north: The Blackwood Arms, The Woodman, and another one which I think closed
And the Royal Oak in Egypt. Not the Egypt, the one near Farnham Common

PS your quotation is skewed so it looks like you mentioned the Ostrich, not I...!
