The discovery shows the construction of Stonehenge was a far greater collaborative effort than scientists realised.

You gonna ask for it back then? It's literally a lump of rock -- you seem to have plenty of that up there already. I remember climbing up a big one just outside Edinburgh castle.

Isn't that the Stone of Scone? The one that monarchs rest their feet on at investiture time? Or am I misremembering?

Another case of historians applying modern politics to historical fact .There were no England/Scotland /Wales borders in the Stone Age.
It may be of interest that at the period of extreme Eastern Elongation of Venus that , in the absence of moonlight , the shadow of the lintel of the Great Trilithon would be cast to the centre where the Altar Stone is believed to have stood. The Horseshoe Trilithons were dedicated to the 584 day period of Venus , with the invisible 6th trilithon representing the invisibility of Venus at superior and inferior conjunctions.

Are they? When I read it I thought they were describing where a stone came from?
I suppose they could have worded it as from "a location in what is currently called Scotland" - but that seems weird

Some of the comments are worth reading, especially the observation by username Proton34:
"There is a weight limit on the stretch of A1 just by the Black Cat Roundabout so I’m guessing they took it down the A66, this makes more sense because they could then stop at Tebay Services which the Romans voted as having the “ best sausage rolls in the Empire” ."

Proof that Aliens from another planet must have visited in the past and helped to move the 6 tonne stone 700kms. Otherwise it would have taken them years to transport. Yea.......must have been Aliens.

The metre was first used in 1793, so those aliens must have arrived after then.

No, they used the ancient alien unit of the kilom, which due to fluctuations in the fabric of space time varied in length between summer and winter. Since their surveyors were not blessed with intergalactic space brains, the French chose to standardise on the summer version, hence the kilom été.

E. Cogg-Willoughby tells me that it was carried from Suffolk on the back of a tame dinosaur, and he is an authority on the period.
