I stumbled across an interesting YouTube on a SAT question posed to US kids in 1982. I suspect it's familiar to the maths boffins here but may offer some entertainment to the rest of us.
The source link for the image contains spoilers, as does the YouTube which is 18 minutes long but nevertheless entertaining, becoming truly astronomical by the end.
