I have for some while been of the opinion that many of these MSN generated 'news' stories I see are actually the product of (mis)applied AI. What do others think?

Re: Artificial News?
pretty certain a few are, MSN also offers me up stories that look like they may have been auto-translated from another language so they don't scan quite right.
For a few years a lot of share update sites seem to have been using automatically generated text (AI I guess we call it now) to inform about specific shares, they used to be blindingly obvious (along lines of 'insert name of share here' and 'insert value x here' & 'if x > y insert text blah blah), but recently they have got much 'better' but still leave you rather cold.

Re: Artificial News?
There has been a reduction in skilled investigative journalists. Hence most copy and paste from other outlets without checking validity.
There is also some bias so if a story fits the narrative it gets through but if it doesn't, we'll it gets buried. With 24/7 news sometimes you have to manufacture it.
How often is there something in the news but nowt on BBC news website when you search for more on it.

Not just AI generated. Last week there was an article on Yahoo news about attempts to ban smacking outright in England. The name of the author was at the top. Not only was the article very biased and badly written (equating smacking with the recent murder of a young girl!) but even certain easily-verifiable dates were completely wrong, as well as being presented out of context.
I think it's well known that people have to hear a 'fact' only a few times for it to become the gospel truth.
In these days of dumbing down and tiny attention spans, probably once is enough.
As people have said, Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity!

It's even worse than that.
Just had to reboot my PC and carry out a virus check because, clicking on one of these MSN 'stories' - supplied via MS Edge browser - I suddenly had control of my PC taken out of my hands and a dramatic Virus/Trojan warning, both audio and visual: "Warning! Do not turn off your computer. Your computer is infected with a virus or Trojan program that is affecting Microsoft servers. Phone the MS support number immediately."
This was after clicking on a 'story' about a 'women who discovered a large engraving on a tree washed up on a beach'. These things really need to be avoided.
I already block the Google(?) supplied TLF adverts because in the past some of them proved to be cons. It seems you cannot depend on these things seemingly being originated by reputable sources.
