Where would we be without stories like this?

Strangeness abounds. No question too obscure

Put a smile on my face -
Treat bearded trans colleagues as women if that's what they identify as, NHS staff told

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... n-NHS.html

I've never come across a bearded trans 'person'

How do you treat someone as a woman apart from which loo door they use?

Surely MiLady would be more appropriate. After all bearded ladies were not that uncommon once.

There is a somewhat more serious side to all of this:

According to figures from the end of last year, there was already an annual spend of £13million on 336 diversity roles across the country.

I know we all get this "equality" shoved down out throats at times but heard this young child shouting "mummy look at that bloke in a dress" as a bearded and tashed "gentleman" in a flowery sundress wandered by.

Whilst Im sure many would want that child re-educated due to the lack of wokery, my thoughts were ...... the black Doc Martins didnt go with the sundress.

From the Daily Mail article:
NHS staff have been asked to still treat colleagues with beards as women if they self-identify as female, it has been reported.

I don't think I'll ever fully understand this whole trans issue. But I thought they were arguing for a distinction to be made between gender identity and biological sex. Ie being female and being a woman aren't necessarily the same thing, if someone identifies differently from their physical body. I dunno if this is just being reported in an ambiguous way, but it seems to say the opposite, that identity and biology are strictly linked.

They are.
Determined at birth and immutable.
It just needs someone in authority - like Trump - to say so, and remove all the ludicrous options from govt websites.

Reminds me of the tale of "The Emperor's New Clothes"

Or how sometimes truth comes out of the mouths of babies.

Or the wisdom of Chance in the movie "Being There".

Ah. So can Trump also command the waves to recede?

Musk has a trans daughter who he couldn't accept and used to harass. They no longer speak. Still, better than being "ludicrous" I guess you think.

Well yes, I agree. I'm tolerant of other people believing whatever they like in a free country, but it's got to a stage now where only certain (usually left wing) ideologies are allowed in public, under the pretext of not offending the minorities. It's not clear if this NHS directive even came from trans people originally, or if there's self-appointed commissars enforcing this new orthodoxy and punishing the counter-revolutionaries on behalf of the supposed victims whether they've asked for it or not.

That sounds like the coming death knell for TLF then. :)

You forgot 'Ms' - some people are very picky.
I default to 'Ms' in a letter/email when I don't know which one the lady prefers.

Stating that a person is the sex according to their birth certificate is like saying you should only have sex with people of the opposite sex.
I can understand why somebody would think that they were born the wrong sex - even from a young age.
Similar to some people knowing that they are gay from a young age.
Whether they should be allowed to physically change their sex at a young age is another matter entirely.

It's good to have a hobby
I know an elderly lady who cuts ties in to tampon holders/pouches for keeping them in your handbag, that she sells at markets (among her other craft output)

Let's hear it again for a 1970s classic from the late lamented Les Barker:
"My granny's a wild flying dove
Though she's old, with sore hands.
She knits contraceptives
From old rubber bands"
