Covid jabs when the system says No!

Couple received text from doctors to book covid jabs. Turn up together at appointments 10 min apart but they can't find wife on the system. Booking confirmed showing on phone so husbands admin booked both in. 1st jabs done happily

News of changes to 12 week wait for second jabs being brought forward to 8 weeks.

Husband gets another text to book but nothing for wife, assuming it will arrive shortly. Nothing arrives for wife but goes with husband to second jab just in case they can squeeze her in as she appears to be missing. Told no but to book online or ring 119.

Husband 2nd jabbed happily. Wife books online, will only allow to make x2 booking 8 weeks apart not just a second jab.

Turns up at appointment but they only have Pfizer not a second AZ. Told to rebook via 119.

119 say ring doctor. Doctor says ring 119, grumpy cos the message says don't contact doctor about covid jabs. No one seems to be able to guarantee a bookable AZ second jab or understand the catch 22 situation

Wife books another online appointment, well it's another 1st and second set hoping for an AZ, timescales will be over the 12 week period now. She can't cancel the ones she won't need anymore so places being wasted.

It mentions doing a survey on how easy it was to book online. Survey is completed with low scores and a highly dissatisfied, giving details of catch 22.

5 Min after completion, wife gets a call from doctors. She is not on the system, the original jab wasn't recorded, does she have jab card etc. Details will be added and updated in 24 hours. The doctors will call back when done and book a local AZ second jab.

Makes you wonder how many others get caught out and no one listens to them. If you know anyone in that situation tell them to fill in that survey and you just might get some joy and a jab!

Now just waiting for a call from the doctors

"Couple received text" - Not clear here: were there two texts received, one on husband's phone and one on wife's phone?

If so she must have been registered on GP's system. In which case it was some kind of system cock up. If only one text sent to husband's phone, then it was for appointment for that individual, AFAIK. So not a system cock up.

“Turns up at appointment but they only have Pfizer not a second AZ. Told to rebook via 119”...
Why didn’t she just go ahead and have the Pfizer at that point?

They both produce antibodies, albeit in a different way, but I don't think that they're exactly the same antibodies. This depends on the exact sequence and length of DNA that each uses. So she'd still have to have a 2nd booster shot for one of them.

However, I reckon it wouldn't be a bad idea to have both, together with at least one 2nd jab. Maybe confer a bit more immunity?

It was two separate texts to two phones albeit within seconds of each other from the GP's system

Im not sure you can mix both, maybe you can but I havent seen that recommend . I think she wanted to keep with AZ as that is what she had first time around.

Well the doctors calling her back and booking her a second jab has not happened and she cant get through via phone to ask what progress is being made.

I doubt much will move until Monday now, another week goes by!

Were two separate appointments then made on line by, or for, each person?

Two totally independent online bookings that were chosen 10 mins apart to car share.

There is a further update though. A further call to the doctors was accepted this morning. Unfortunately they couldn't find the person who initially made the call out from the doctors last week. "Hold and I will transfer you to someone who can help"

The transferred call was ringing for over 10 mins (I think I would have given up by now!) but the person answering wasn't able to help and wanted to transfer to her supervisor.

Fortunately this call was answered and after talking to x3 people, second booking was finalised for Friday 4th.

To finish the tale, jab was successfully carried out last Friday. No reactions or blood clots.

All the other booked jabs now cancelled, so system is now caught up and now says Yes!

Maybe "Mr and Mrs Smith" can just turn up and pretend it's a first jab :o
