Yes I spotted that too. He'll be big winner from the result. Trump will reward Elon Musk with extra govt support for Tesla and maintain Tariffs on BYD. (Cannot increase much further as tariff on Chinese ev's already going to 100% in US). Probably be tariffs on European cars. Previous to Musk supporting Trump would have expected less support for EV's but now can see the incentives staying in place.

The problem with tariffs on Chinese made motors is that the Chinese government is encouraging Chinese buyers to buy Chinese made cars. Since China is the biggest market for most of the legacy makers, the tariffs that were designed to help them have back fired. VW and Stellantis have recently reported heavy falls in sales and profits.

The risk with Trump is that he will repeal the IRA or bits of it that give $7500 credit to buyers of American made EV. However, if battery prices keep falling the effect of the $7500 credit will be less as Tesla can lower prices at the same margin as the cost to make each EV is declining so fast as battery prices collapse.

There are also issues over renewable generation which Trump dislikes. He prefers oil and so might make it difficult to build renewables (especially wind turbines), but perhaps Elon can help him see sense.

Likely the biggest short term gain will be the flood of money going into reducing the size of many of the agencies in the US government. If many folk are laid off with two years salary that should ignite the US economy and boost sales of EV. There are also potential gains from reducing regulation for Tesla insurance and Tesla self driving et al.

As of now the Trump win looks like it will create a major boost to the US economy and that should provide a strong tail wind to Tesla.
