This an interesting review of the tick tick app, owned in China & currently still private, but a potential threat to Facebook, Twitter etc using AI to deliver no choice 15 second content

I watched about half of the video, but couldn't quite see the point of what it offers. I have a news feed that came with my Smartphone that seems to work in a similar way, and it's incredibly annoying, since the AI or algorithm doesn't realise that our interests come and go.

Steve

PS Still in mourning, after all these years, for 'Friends reunited' that I found amazing, but the conspiracy theorist part of me reckons was quietly put too sleep cos it allowed far too much cerebral discussion and not enough 15 second soundbite-type comments. :-(

Gawd, it's neither "tick tick" nor "tick tock" -- it's "TikTok".

The tictok app from ByteDance has been banned in India and the US is also considering a ban:

Currently ByteDance is scheduled to IPO this year, but there is no date as far as I can tell. However, Igindex are running a grey market and this shows that the expected IPO price has declined significantly, from a peak of over 220 to a current less than 130 following this ban talk:

One of the stated reasons for the proposed US ban is national security which was also part of the Indian ban, although given the border tensions between India and China there may be other reasons.

Prior to these bans tiktok was a huge money spinner for ByteDance. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if the proposed IPO actually happens.

TicTok is a wolf in sheep's clothing and needs to be removed from Apple and Google App stores according to US fcc-commissioner:

Does anyone know if these accusations have a basis of truth in them?

What I do know is that it is the most addictive app in existence. After 3 or 4 days I have to uninstall it as I'm lying in bed awake till 2am scrolling through.

Be warned!
