Criminal gang busted following hack of secure phone

Interesting story if true, that the French authorities hacked into a supposedly secure phone and this has led to numerous high profile arrests of organised criminals:

We are frequently told that iPhones can't be hacked, but if so why wouldn't the criminals use them?

It makes me wonder if criminals may hack into bank systems or phones or what ever and gather spoils that way and if there are any investment opportunities for defences against such tactics.

There has been a lot of talk about VPN and a counter thread about it not being anything like as good an idea as the makers claim.

Does anyone have any investment opportunity suggestions for this field and any comments about best practice and who might make some profits from the industry?
