Techincalities come to the fore if we end up not having a deal, however. Most of the punters are more concerned about the technicalities and how it affects their lives than the principles.

Correct, the vote was about principle.

But the current trade negotiations are about technicalities that affect many businesses across the UK.

We have years of such negotiations ahead of us.

We have already had over 4 years of negotiations.

In addition to the trade aspects are all the political aspects and that is very difficult to fathom.

Mrs. May assured the UK population that we were leaving, but it never happened, nor was it close.

Boris Johnson said he had an 'Oven Ready deal', this proved to be so good that UK law had to be adjusted to break parts of the treaty.

Now we are told that instead of the UK leaving, it will be UK minus Northern Ireland, the latter will leave later.

No matter what ever the politicians promise I have no idea what will happen, with a full UK extension no longer quite as unlikely as it was.

Trying to run business or make investment decision with such political uncertainty is not a recipe for restful sleep.

If you are an importer or exporter, with heavy reliance on the EU, it must be a very worrying time. Very difficult to make any significant investment decisions at this time.

As an investor, one of the main short-term beneficiaries will be warehousing, as it is clear stock piling is the only real way of protecting such businesses.

I am about to have solar panels fitted, and the company I am dealing with has insisted on a deposit to enable the panels to be imported from the EU before 1st January, otherwise they cannot guarantee there will be any to fit for a while. They need to store them somewhere in the meantime.

Tritax Big Box (BBOX) anyone?
