Both technically correct but I would say he was around for 99.999% of Tesla’s build. When he came on board Tesla was pretty much three men and a dog.

Musk is also immensley more weathly, so I'd expect him to pay far more.

Technically correct is a long winded way of saying correct!

Tesla existed as a tech focused company whose mission was to build electric cars. Given those are still the factors which the Teslarati claim set Tesla apart that seems like a fairly significant foundation. Besides how many people do you need before the concept guys (go out looking for the money man (Musk)? Musk took Tesla over, he didn't start it.
