If this article is correct a very large deposit of rare earth elements has been found in Turkey:

If this is correct it has a lot of potential impact on a wide range of industries and reduces the leverage that China had on rare earth supplies.

Interesting that your source for that is Chinese: you'd've thought an announcement like that would get coverage around the world and reach us through our own media.

Another Chinese source thinks it won't affect Chinese dominance - although they don't mention timeframes: https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202207/1269844.shtml .

Yes, I wonder if it is accurate which is why I added the "If this is correct..." to the post.

The amount of misinformation on the internet is endlessly increasing, often connected with long or short attacks on some company that may be impacted by the news if it is true.

In this case there have been some other notifications including:

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/huge- ... 1657207689

and

https://www.marketindex.com.au/news/tur ... nas-shares

which is saying the Turkey discovery is less than China's.

Still whether it is true and how accurate the numbers are is unclear to me.

Generally I don't follow commodities. It would be nice if someone who is familiar with the field could comment.

Large lithium source in Serbia too (https://www.mining.com/rio-tinto-plans- ... rbia-2023/) but as Inrecall, the Serbs have vetoed mining operations.
