Had to laugh at Elon's latest tweet in response too Bernie Sanders saying it was 'immoral' for people like Musk and Bezos to be so rich.

Musk tweeted “I keep forgetting that you’re still alive.”

Musk will be paying a lot of tax on his recent share sales and a lot more on the sales he will have to make before his options expire.

His share sales are in part to pay for his options & taxes when they vest. A quality problem to have!

It is kind of interesting that there is a body of Americans, whose nations is built on capitalism, arguing that it is a bad idea. As though creating world leading technology and employing a lot of people is not a good thing, but a bad one and that any one who does this should be punished.

It is quite appealing to many to argue that Musk should pay a lot more tax and the idea resonates throughout history. High taxes were once levied in the UK with "The Beatles" having to pay 90% of the profits they made in tax:

No one ever seems to research whether such high taxes lead to an increase in the common good but usually they lead to the people who are innovating and creating wealth deciding to emigrate.

It seems that antics of the PC, envy driven, left wing democrats like Sanders, AOC etc are losing them a lot of votes (eg Virginia recently) and the result will very probably be they will lose the mid term elections and so no longer have legislative control. Musk can afford to laugh at them!

Certainly possible, but the democrats did well to beat Trump and that organisation still exists and may effectively counter the current narrative with a new one, asking do you want Trump & his policies back?

In the middle of all of this warfare, claim and counter claim is the BEV and PHEV policies and who knows what deals may be done to the assistance of US legacy cars and detriment of Tesla.

Sure Elon is rich and has a lot of support, but, at least for now, the democrats are not powerless and may create serious mischief for Tesla, just like the German politicians have for giga Berlin.

Meanwhile Tesla continues to fall, gap down and falling, now not far off the recent low of 987.31.

My decision to hold Tesla through this is one of the most stupid I have ever made and that is what happens when one gets too emotional about a company, thinking of it as a generational stock etc.

Virginia result was down to how the parties ran. The Republicans picked the right candiate, the Dems ran an inappropriate campaign against him. The Republican wasn't an ardent Trumpette, the Democrats ran a campaign based on making him out as a proxy for Trump. If teh Republican primary had chosen a different candidate, one of whom described the Jan 6th insurrectionists as 'Patriots' they would have got hammered, if the Dems ran an effective campaign they wouldn't have got hammered.

Sitting President's parties almost invariably lose the midterm.

Yes, it all working out well for the longs!

In our media influenced world it always makes sense to capitalise on what ever is happening with ones own interpretation. Burry has form having called the real estate collapse early and made a fortune and no doubt there are elements of truth in what he writes.

Clearly there are lots of shorts capitalising on a forced seller with no clarity as to when the selling stops. In the two day window between sale and SEC notification a huge amount of panic can be created and Burry is doing is best.

If I recall RS had an issue pulling out of a drive on a gradient, not breaking suddenly while driving on the highway in a manner so worrying to a number of drivers that they have contacted the NHTSA...

I believe that the cost, safety concerns & waste storage will be very hard for any manufacturer of smr to overcome, but that for applications like military marine were non of these apply they will remain popular until something better is created. They may also be useful for Lunar & Mars bases although the risk of one being destroyed in a rocket failure with contamination spread over a city might not be funded. They could be created in solace using elements refined from the asteroid belt etc.
