Where to sell gold coins
My sister in law has some gold sovereigns that she would like to sell. There is no numismatic value to the coins, just bullion. Can I have some recommendations? She lives in London, so can getto Hatton Garden, etc.
I have used ATS Bullion in the past. Their web site is quoting buy/sell prices of £540.19/£562.02. Are there any better dealers? She does not want to sell on ebay!

Re: Where to sell gold coins
I have bought from Sharps Pixley. Their shop is at 54 St James Street, London (it's to the south of Piccadilly, a very nice area)

They were very efficient. I haven't sold through them (or anyone else)

£540 is over 99% of spot. You wont do better than that so take it would be my advice.

You can sell them back to the Royal Mint at the spot bullion price

Interesting, but it says here they will pay 96% of the price.

I've used Hatton Gardens Metals to buy and sell bullion sovereigns by post before.
I found them very efficient and the price at the time was competitive.

HGM are only at £530 buy price for a sov at present so a little back from ATS it seems.

Bairdmint.com when I used them they were very close to spot price, though many alternative gold dealers along Hatton garden.
Their website can be a little flaky, but buying/selling in person is very professional and very secure.

Re: Where to sell gold coins
Tavex or others in person via appointment. I generally look to spot +1.5% to buy (10 x 1 ounce Britannia's), spot -0.5% to sell back.
Averaged into over 20 years (working/saving), out over 20 years (retired/drawdown) and no tax, so less than 0.1%/year for self insured (stored) including costs/taxes.

These guys on Maddox St (near Regent St) in London are efficient. Make an appointment and go and see them. They will wire the money while you are there if you do decide to deal with them.
