How often are people logging into their brokerage accounts?

#299369

Perhaps has been raised elsewhere. Was just wondering how often people are logging into their brokerage accounts? Over the past 18 months I guess it’s gone from every few days to daily and probably many times a day in volatile markets. Not too sure it’s a healthy habit as it is not normally to trade or react but to ... just look in I guess.

Unless I want to place a trade I only logon every 7 to 10 days to check that the dividends have been credited.

This week has seen a couple of extra logons to one account to check that a share split had been credited (it now has).

I don't check the accounts for valuations. That's what the valuation spreadsheet is for

Never in Feb, Mar. A flurry of activity in April using my CGT allowance and funding my ISA/SIPP for the next year. Won't log in again until July.

Not all that often. Only if I want to place a trade or to check the balance of cash, as I often find a discrepancy because of my own mistake. 2 or 3 times a month at the most.

I don't log into my brokerage accounts very often at all...

Please don't start a thread asking how often people look at their spreadsheets though...

Cheers,

Once a week to check and record dividends. Additionally, on occasions when I want to take advantage of a cheap day trading - such as this evening for tomorrow's cheap day at A J Bell.

If I'm interested in the value of my portfolio at any time, I just run the HYPTUSS.

Weekly, normally, just to check divis, corporate actions etc. I did log in a bit more last week as I was funding to use up FY19/20 ISA allowance

Same here. I logged in once during January and then not again until the changeover of the tax year this last week.when there was a flurry of activity around CGT and a new ISA subscription.

It's not unusual for me to go a couple of months without looking at my positions. The one exception is my options account since by the very nature of that, you do need to keep an eye on them as they are short-term intstruments.

I believe the monthly cheap trading day for AJ Bell is the 14th this month.

Correct! I'd completely forgotten it is Good Friday today - only struck me as I woke up this morning.
Well, job done and it'll trigger on the 14th.

Even less frequently for me, which is a bit naughty as I should really check that the accounts are as they should be more often, hadn't been raided for instance. Raising a "that ain't right, I never withdrew that money" type issue months after the event would be lapse

I boot/use a known 'clean' system for online financial activities as a security measure, so don't tend to boot it that often. Intentionally avoid accessing online brokerages via a system that's been used to browse here-there-anywhere.
