AstraZeneca's pill Tagrisso cut the risk of lung cancer progressing by 70 percent compared to standard chemotherapy in a major clinical trial, lifting prospects for a drug that is key to the company's lofty long-term sales goals.

Probably already priced in?

Eye-watering monthly cost of £9,000.

So that will be on average £54,000 per patient as the report also said it improved progression free survival by (just) 6 months, which suggests you aren't getting very much of a longer life with the drug.

I'm never sure how good some of these cancer drugs actually are as they don't always give you much extra time

This is often the case, and some of these drugs come with some pretty nasty side effects, so I am not sure that quality of life is really that great in the extra time you get.

As someone who suffers from an (currently) incurable kidney disease (although I hasten to add, not yet seriously life threatening), I can assure any of the unconvinced, that 6 months of extra access to these boards would be worth 54K to me ;)

I think you need to be there before you can "knock" it.

If stooz and Clariman ever run into trouble funding this site, they now know where to go! ;-)
