Portfolio Review Help Request

Portfolio Review

I have cash to cover the next couple of years expenses and property to cash in for nursing home fees or a nurse when the time comes.

Meanwhile I have a SIPP invested

50% Schroder All Maturities Corporate Bond Fund
50% iShares 100 UK Equity Index Fund.

This is keeping me ahead of inflation and on the 5-30 year time horizon on which I invest I perceive as no more risky than cash (albeit more volatile on a shorter time horizon).

However I have no direct exposure to the US tech stocks, or to China and I should not ignore these as I will miss out on obvious areas of growth. I’m not rushing to rebalance the portfolio but over the next few years would like to move towards;

35% Vanguard FTSE Developed World ex-U.K. Equity Index Fund
25% iShares 100 UK Equity Index Fund.
20% Vanguard Global Emerging Markets Fund A
20% Schroder All Maturities Corporate Bond Fund

Top Ten Equity Holdings will then be (based on today’s market cap) with no one at more than 1.5% of my SIPP

Unilever PLC
Apple Inc
AstraZeneca PLC
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd
Tencent Holdings Ltd
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd
ADR Microsoft Corp
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd
HSBC Holdings PLC
Amazon.com Inc

Any and all thoughts on this strategy welcome.

Also any alternative funds that address the same markets that you might recommend.

Happy to answer questions.

Thank you in anticipation of your thoughts and ideas.

You might consider Vanguard Life Strategy 80% Equity as a single fund.

It’s effectively

20% Vanguard FTSE 100
60% Vanguard All World ex UK but incl Emerging Markets
20% Bonds hedged to £ ( mainly aggregate global bonds plus some gilts)

Simple strategy that has done pretty well.
