WMP Claim it has been a success, anecdotes from locals (see Cycling Weekly FB link below) disagree.
I can't believe it has had no impact, so surely this is a case of "better than nothing"?

Interesting comment here:
"What is apparent from Op Close Pass is how little attention drivers actually pay to what is going on around them. This is because of a number of factors but primarily because drivers have little to fear when it comes to their own personal safety on the road. The modern motor vehicle is a fine feat of engineering, it can be driven into a brick wall at 50mph and the occupants can walk away relatively injury free. This “security” has however endangered vulnerable road users where it protects the driver. Drivers with their subliminal feeling of safety relax, pay less attention, start practicing poor driving, they speed, don’t pay attention, all to the detriment of vulnerable road users."

It's hard to see what can be done about that if it is a problem.
Presumably the number of deaths and serious injuries per mile walked or cycled is increasing if that's the case. If not there's no problem, if so there's a big problem.

.
Presumably decreasing speed limits generally slowing down traffic means there is more chance of driver reaction in time, lower impacts etc . Of course that still requires driver attention to keep to a lowered speed limit but in time presumably it wold occur as a general idea/concept.
I appreciate that is a total non starter in all likelihood... though 20 mph areas are increasing at least.
