The Lost Pianos of Siberia

This sounds like a silly title but I can recommend this book to anyone. It is part travelogue, part music and very much part Russia without the politics. Quite an amazing book and I am surprised about how few people seem interested in non fiction books judging by the reaction/comments that I get from my posts.

I did not know for instance that Europe stops at the continental divide of the Urals, nor that the eastern part of Russia does not end at Kamchatka but actually in a series of small islands to the east of that peninsula, the Commander Islands.

But this book is much more than about geography; it is about the Siberian's (and no doubt Russian's) love of music.

Beautifully written by one Sophy Roberts, apparently her first book. Quite remarkable.

Yes, Dod , a really interesting read.

Her first book and a different slant on her subject.

I would recommend too.
