As per the subject I'm looking for end of the world book suggestions; not for the end of the world but about it (or the collapse of society would probably be closer to the mark)

I went through a period a while ago where I tore through quite a few, mostly sci-fi classics, and really enjoyed most of them; seems like a good time to get back in to more

Off the top of my head ones I've enjoyed are:
- Earth Abides
- I am Legend
- On the Beach
- The Road
- The Children of Men
- The Body Snatchers
- Greybeard
- A Canticle for Leibowitz
- The Drowned World
- pretty much everything Wyndham wrote

The Stand was probably the first one I read in my early teens, but trying to re-read it recently it just felt too much like Earth Abides and I put it aside knowing how much of a commitment it would be to work through it; I might go back to it

Anyone got recommendations in a similar vein?

The Daily Mail

Not yet a classic, but an enjoyable read.

Black tide rising series (Under a graveyard sky, 1st book) by John Ringo.

HG Wells' The War in the Air

Brilliant book about world pandemic is "Not forgetting the whale" by John Ironmonger.

It will be a scary read at the moment because the Coronavirus is following his script.

The hero is a city analyst who studied the likely scenario for a pandemic. I read very few books but Mrs H recommended it and I was entertained and scared from about page 4 onwards.

I know John personally and he's a good chap as well as an excellent author. The book has just been published in German too.

Not a book, but 'The end of the world', a podcast by Josh Clark would also meet the OP.

Thanks both! I've put it on my list; might be a while before I get to it while I deal with the aging parents on holiday with us in Australia (took them to Williamstown today in an "On the Beach" themed jolly before it's all locked down - good day, except for the fact they weren't up for Throbbing Gristle in the car on the drive down)

Caught word of their passing at the weekend - and it knocked Screamadelica off rotation in the car
