Which FT Subscription ?

Which FT format is the best ? The "ePaper" or the "Digital Edition" ?

I can get print + ePaper or for a similar price, get the digital edition, plus a weekend printed version. Of course I can trial one of them, but that doesn't really facilitate a comparison.

Weekly
13/05/2021 Print + ePaper £5.77
13/05/2021 Print & std digital £8.77
13/05/2021 Weekend Print £3.40
13/05/2021 Digital + weekend print £5.48
13/05/2021 Digital £7.62

Save yourself the bother and get none.
Then get a sub to MoneyWeek and Investors' Chronicle (published by the FT, out of interest)

I've done an IC Chronicle subscription and will not be ever repeating the experience.

I'd like to try the FT. It's just a question of how the Digital Edition compares with ePaper.

I think the ePaper is an electronic copy of the actual paper with the same layout etc. Think of it as like a giant PDF.

The digital edition just unlocks all the pages on the website presumably including old articles.

Both will include the same content, the ePaper can be read from start to finish like a physical newspaper, but the 'proper' web pages will be easier to navigate/search if you prefer to jump around.

It seems strange that Digital + weekend print costs less than Digital on its own, they are paying you to take the hard copy off their hands!

The digital edition is fine for me. The website is easy enough to navigate around. I would recommend just using it rather than a print edition or variant.

The comments are very mixed - sometimes they are really knowledgeable and thoughtful, other times you get the rabid daily mail crew. I think you would miss the good stuff if you went for the other editions.

Likely due to the revenue they receive from the advertising in the weekend magazines. If supplied in print form the magazines will likely be read by people in the household other than the person who subscribed to read the weekday FT content online.
