I have just finished this following a twitter recommendation. It is alternative history, science fiction style with robots. It is the first of a trilogy & having just finished book 1 I have immediately ordered the rest of the trilogy.
It has a fast flowing plot which pulls you along with some decent characterisation (and perhaps some not entirely believable). As a nice change lots of female characters have major roles - a rarity in the genre. The break with our history is late 17th century & the headline conflict is the Protestant Netherlands v the Catholic French.
I don't want to spoil the book so will say no more but if you like this sort of novel it's worth giving it a try.
