Admittedly I scanned the article rather quickly and did not absorb all the details but It could have been taken a lot further, both the eye and the camera lens are just one part of the image producing system the other is the brain, which has to fill in vast amounts of missing information in order to produce a meaningful image which we can understand. If we did not have eyes would our brains have evolved to be super sensitive to other inputs, differences in temperature perhaps and then create 'images' from such differences?
