I find the arguments weak, but others may like them.

The trouble with these "Are we alone" debates is that it is often not defined what is meant. Alone in the universe or alone in the galaxy?
The universe is a very big place and we could be "Not alone" and yet what real difference would it ever amount to compared to if we were alone. Surely a somewhat more realistic question would be: "Are we alone in the galaxy?" The answer to that might well be "Yes", without negating the possibility of our not being alone in the universe - whatever real difference that would make.

Even the galaxy is a big place. We could be very much not alone in the galaxy but if the nearest neighbor is a mere 10,000 lightyears away there will not be much two-way communications. It's likely the biggest impact of any discovery would be philosophical, although it's possible that one way communication would transfer civilization altering technology. This would not be very dependent on distance. Although detectable civilizations in distant galaxies are likely to be mind-bendingly advanced.

President Bill Clinton said he sent a trusted man to look around Area 51 & found no aliens ( this section starts about half way through the approx 8 minute video):

A problem with this question also is the tense used. Given the size of the universe, any signal of intelligence received would certainly answer the question "Were we alone", but not necessarily "Are we alone".

If an alien race has technology that enables them to travel in time & space then it becomes a much more uncertain question as to were v are we alone.

As is we can only make guesses based on our understanding of life & technology. An advanced alien race may have a different understanding. Only in just over 100 years did we learn to fly, if that rate of progress was extrapolated say 10000 years ahead then it becomes near impossible to imagine what may be known & possible.

English grammar is not compatible with special or general relativity.* This is not a problem for Einstein's theories.

* and probably not with quantum mechanics either.

...Sorry! I just gave up - I remember when you used to able to simply watch YouTube videos. Not now.

Perhaps somebody will tell me about it and his conclusions...

The expert could not explain many of the sitings.

He thought they could be advanced technology.

He thought the military must have better images.

I've so missed this thread, used to make me laugh (and the one on self driving cars).
No use putting Twitter on here, I can't read them and I'm not signing up for Twitter.

Actually, it does make sense. I am in the same position.

Time passes, things change, the Internet changes; Google gets bigger and bigger (and badder?)...

Once you could just simply play any YouTube video - no problem! - try that now.

Once you could just simply read Twitter posts and threads - posting obviously needed a subscription - try that now.

What do you think I did before my post?

I can read the Twitter posts linked to, so don't know why Mr Edge can't.

You obviously could read them too, in order to "de-twitter" them, so don't know why you say you're in the same position (or are you a signed up Twit?)

Dunno what you mean by that but let's play the ball here, eh?

I'm not signed up for Twitter but I can read the linked to Tweets. Mr Edge says he can't.

You say you are in the same position as Cliff, yet you obviously could read them. Are you signed up to Twitter? If not then you are in the same position as I am -- able to read Tweets without signing up.

If you are signed up to Twitter then what happens if you log out from it, can you then read the linked to Tweets or not?
